Chengdu Chongzhou Daoming Bamboo-woven Plum Blossom Mirror has gone abroad and and in foreign countries"out of the circle"! Recently,"From Beijing to Paris-Chinese and French Artists'Olympic Journey", a Chinese art exhibition co-organized by China Central Radio and Television(CCTV),the French National Olympic and Sports Committee(CNOSC), the Professional Football League(Ligue de Football Professionnel), and a number of French art institutions, opened its curtains in Paris, France. At this exhibition, more than 30 Chinese intangible cultural heritage masters in the field of multimedia art and intangible cultural heritage demonstrated the long history and profound heritage of Chinese culture in the form of colorful works. Among them, the bamboo weaving work "Plum Blossom Mirror" from Chongzhou, Chengdu ranks among them.

It is understood that the Bamboo-woven Plum Blossom Mirror was completed in 2022, by 89 years old Zhao Sijin, a national intangible cultural heritage inheritor in Chongzhou, Chengdu.

"This piece is handmade with a plum blossom pattern weave,involving seven weaving methods including six-sided holes, three-filament twisted locks, pressing one to pick one, scissor gimlet closure, and threading flowers, etc. The material used is mainly Baijia bamboo (Phyllostachys bissetii) and Cizhu bamboo (Neosinocalamus affinis) , and it took me two weeks to finish making it." Zhao Sijin said that the work of Bamboo-woven Plum Blossom Mirror perfectly combines the plum blossom pattern with the mirror, the periphery using bamboo weaving pulling, into the shape of a flower, the back of the bamboo weaving plum blossom pattern, to play a certain decorative role. The mirror body in the middle of the work can rotate 360 degrees, and the front is a mirror surface, which not only meets the public's aesthetic needs well, but also has practical needs.

As the representative inheritor of Daoming Bamboo Weaving,Zhao Sijin,while expanding the inheritance team, studying and improving the bamboo weaving skills by "teaching by word and example", also collaborated with institutions such as Peking University to compile Daoming Bamboo Weaving, which materializes the master craft of "oral transmission" into a "graphic and narrative" operation template. He also incorporated local cultural skills into Peking University's teaching materials and auxiliary materials, exploring innovative paths for traditional craftsmanship to extend and expand into disciplinary construction.

It is reported that Daoming bamboo weaving originated from Daoming Town, Chongzhou, Chengdu. Daoming Town is located in the western Sichuan Plain and is rich in bamboo resources, was named by the Ministry of Culture as "China's folk art(bamboo weaving)of the township". Daoming bamboo weaving has a history of over 2000 years and is a national intangible cultural heritage and geographical landmark product.Nowadays,Daoming bamboo weaving is widely used in production, life, decorative arts and other scenes, developing three major systems of three-dimensional bamboo weaving, flat bamboo weaving, and porcelain body bamboo weaving, with 150 categories and nearly a thousand varieties. Bamboo weaving products are sold to more than 120 countries, expanding the "bamboo economy" such as bamboo culture and innovation, bamboo decoration, and bamboo research and learning. It has introduced 14 market entities to operate hotels, homestays, rural academies,etc., driving 80%of farmers in the village to start businesses and employment.
